TRAINS & THE LANDSCAPE OF ROMNEY MARSH

Incorporates a visit to RH&DR’s Model Railway Exhibition, a presentation about the railway’s history and its role today as a major tourist attraction, a train journey from New Romney with lunch in the End of the Line Restaurant at Dungeness and time to enjoy the unique delights of this National Nature Reserve and Site of Special Scientific Interest.
A later train will then convey you back towards New Romney, stopping at the railway’s Halt at the Romney Marsh Visitor Centre. Run by Kent Wildlife Trust, your visit to this award-winning Visitor Centre and Nature Reserve will include a guided tour. See the permanent exhibitions depicting how the Romney Marsh landscape was formed, its history and wildlife. Wander the marked nature trails with its organic and wildlife gardens and buildings unique to the Romney Marsh, including a replica “Looker’s Hut.” Local crafts, art work and produce will be on sale too!

SCHOOLS & YOUTH GROUPS
Visit the RH&DR for an educational and fun day out. Our local guide will cater to your youth groups needs. Take a steam train journey from your nearest station to New Romney where you can visit the Model Exhibition to see an array of trains travelling around the extensive layout, make use of the play areas and enjoy a picnic style lunch.
