The Romney, Hythe and Dymchurch Railway Association was formed in 1967. It is constituted as a preservation society, supporting the railway both financially and through the provision of volunteer labour. During the winter months regular working parties are arranged, normally at about three weekly intervals. For those wishing to work on the railway during the operating season, training can be given in a number of jobs. If you want any more information; who to contact, how much it costs to join, what you get, etc., then please send an e-mail with details of your postal address and your request.
The Bug Club
Aimed at the under 11s, the Bug Club gives its members a chance to keep in touch with what is happening on the Railway through 'Basil the Bug'. This small shunting engine has led a very adventurous life and has become a firm favourite with children due to his appearances with the Troublesome Trucks on Thomas Days, and as Santa's steam powered reindeer during the Santa Specials. Now he is preparing for his starring role as the leader of his own fan club, and this is going to mean a lot more work for him. Already he has produced the several copies of the Bug Club newsletter, modestly called 'Basil's Whistle' and he is looking forward to meeting all his friends at the Railway through the year on all those exciting Special Events. Membership is open to any child up to the age of 11 and costs £6.00 per year. Benefits of membership include the newsletter, reduced rate travel, prize competitions and advance information on what is happening to Basil and his friends. Pick up a leaflet at one of our stations or send for more details. Also, visit our Bug page...
The MarshlanderThe Marshlander is the quarterly magazine sent exclusively to Association Members. It has been running since 1967 and aims to record events on the Railway from current news through recounting historical occasions. Each magazine contains updates from various departments on the railway as well as contributions from readers/members. There is space, currently, for up to 14 colour pictures. If you have material you would like to submit such as articles, photographs, historical information, etc., you can e-mail the Editors at: marshlander@rhdr.org
