
On Monday 4th June 2012, 4000 beacons will be lit by communities and others, to celebrate Her Majesty the Queen's Diamond Jubilee. The Pilot Inn at Dungeness, in conjunction with Lydd Town Council and the R.N.L.I
have organised an evening of music, entertainment, food & beverages, culminating in the lighting of the beacon in the national chain.
In order to help local residents enjoy this very special evening, without having to hunt for a parking space or cause congestion issues at Dungeness, RH&DR will be operating a FREE TRAIN SERVICE. Our normal scheduled steam train departure from New Romney to Dungeness at 17.37 will stop at Romney Sands Holiday Village at 17.46 and Dungeness Station at 18.02. The train will leave Dungeness Station again at 18.04, making a special stop at Battery Road for passengers to alight for the celebrations. At approx. 22.15, the Beacon will be lit and a Firework display will follow. At exactly 23.00 our Diesel Train will depart Battery Road, making at stop at Romney Sands Holiday Village and terminating at New Romney Station at 23.25.
Seats are on a strictly first come - first served basis.
