Our normal RomneyRover and Family Rover tickets will apply and will include entry to the Rally and the Model Railway Exhibition and 1940s Exhibition at New Romney making them fantastic value. In addition, for this day only,
customers bringing along a copy of this notice will be entitled to a third child ticket free of charge when purchasing a Family Rover (that means 2 Adults and 3 Children, between the ages of 3 and 15yrs, travel all day for £39.50). Platform tickets can be purchased on the day for access to the Bus Rally only. Platform tickets cost £6.00 per adult and £3.00 per child (3-15yrs).
Stagecoach combined tickets will also be available as normal on this day enabling use of Stagecoach connecting buses to our Hythe and New Romney for 2 Adults and up to 3 Children. Tickets can be bought on the bus and must be exchanged for a complimentary travel voucher for our trains at any ticket office.
Customers coming by car are recommended to use Hythe station where there is free parking and easy access from the M20 junction 11. There will be no parking at New Romney station as the main Rally area will be in the New Romney station car park. Parking will be in the car park at The Marsh Academy off Station Rd and a free vintage bus will be running to bring people down to the station, this is only a two minute walk away from New Romney Station.
Free Shuttle buses, using vintage buses, will also operate on a regular basis between New Romney and Dungeness offering an alternative way of seeing our interesting coast line and hopefully to catch a glimpse of our trains on the parallel tracks. Please check our website nearer the date of the event for departure times from New Romney & return times from Dungeness.
Combine this with our own Model Railway Exhibition and our fascinating 1940s exhibition describing the part this little railway played in defending the realm in World War 2 and it is clear there will be something of interest for everyone and all ages. In addition there is a large play area just in case the youngest members of the family need to let off steam.
Our cafes at Dungeness and New Romney will be serving hot food from 10.00 until 4.00 in addition to teas, coffees and lighter snacks. At the Heywood buffet at New Romney there will be a range of beers, lagers and wines available from our licensed counter.
Our shops will be open with a full range of railway souvenirs, transport related books including at Hythe a very comprehensive second hand section and for the younger members of the family our extensive range of Thomas, Chuggington and other themed products, plus our Bigjigs range featuring our own Romney celebrity locomotive "Typhoon". We are planning to be joined by a couple of trade stalls selling further transport books, postcards and models.
